I've had this painting in my mind for days and days. The title came without thinking about it because the iris looks as if it's in a curtsy, plus the frilly petals are so feminine. The color choice for the background was also easy - I wanted something white-washy and soft. I usually paint on black or dark brown/purple, but I painted on bright pink for this painting.
The hardest part in this painting was the green stems and buds. They seemed so dark and it was hard to not lighten them up. The contrast is needed, at least for me, because I am a painter that likes high contrast.

Love it! I say this again and again, but you are amazing:)
A M A Z I N G ! ! Yep you've absolutely found your element. With every painting I think it's my favorite and there won't be any better... I'm always wrong. I don't usually like the back ground being monochromatic but this is SOO striking. Man I can't even imagine what it must look like in person!!!
Yay for another painting!
(I was starting to worry. ^_^)
And you're completely right about how the iris looks to be in mid-curtsy. Very nice!
The hints of pink poking out are very nice.
Just wonderful! And I love your title!
Niiiiiiiiiiiice Sis!
